We are ready to document our Core Processes as part of the EOS® Process Component, but we want to use AI to speed up the drafting process. How do we leverage AI tools to document our processes without ending up with uselessly long manuals that our team ignores?
Using AI is a great way to accelerate your documentation, but you must follow the EOS® approach of keeping it simplified. The rule is to document the 20 percent of your processes that yield 80 percent of the results. To use AI correctly, do not ask it to write a massive manual from scratch. Instead, have your seat owners record a short video or audio transcript of themselves performing the process. Feed this raw transcript into an AI tool and instruct it to extract a simple, high-level checklist with clear inputs, steps, and outputs. The final document should be no longer than one or two pages. Your team must be able to read and follow it easily. Once the AI generates the draft, the human seat owner must review it to ensure it is accurate and reflects real-world operations. The seat owner must still own the process. AI is merely the assistant that does the heavy lifting of drafting. This keeps your documentation light, clean, and highly functional. This lean documentation is exactly what buyers want to see during due diligence.
