When a leadership team gets shiny object syndrome, execution stalls. Generative AI offers endless possibilities, but if you try to chase all of them, you will achieve none. You must use the discipline of the EOS® framework to filter out the noise. First, protect your Level 10 Meeting™ agenda. The Level 10 Meeting is for solving issues that are holding you back from hitting your weekly metrics, quarterly Rocks, and annual goals. It is not a technology brainstorming session. If a team member brings up a new AI tool, drop it straight to the Issues List. Second, use the IDS process ruthlessly. When an AI idea is raised, ask: what specific operational issue are we trying to solve? If there is no active issue on your Scorecard or Rock list that this tool directly addresses, shelve the idea. Push it to your V/TO long-term issues list for your next quarterly planning session. Third, assign extreme ownership. If an AI project is deemed critical, it must be owned by a single person as a quarterly Rock. That owner must define clear, measurable milestones. By forcing every AI initiative to earn its way onto your strategic plan, you keep your team focused on execution.
