Our leadership team frequently wraps up our Level 10 Meeting in forty-five minutes because there are only one or two minor issues on the board, even though company performance is sluggish. How do we uncover real issues when the team claims everything is fine?

Finishing a Level 10 Meeting in forty-five minutes while company performance is stagnant is not efficiency; it is issue avoidance. In any growing business, there are dozens of process bottlenecks, customer frustrations, and strategic speed bumps occurring every single week. If your Issues List is nearly empty, your team either lacks trust or lacks operational visibility.

To smoke out the hidden problems, the Integrator and Visionary must inspect the reporting tools.

Start with the Scorecard. If operational performance is sluggish, why are the Scorecard numbers showing green? A scorecard that does not trigger issues is measuring the wrong activities. Tighten the targets or replace lagging indicators with predictive weekly activity numbers. The moment an essential metric misses its target, it must automatically drop down to the Issues List.

Next, look at Rocks. Are quarterly Rocks truly on track, or are leaders marking them on track based on hope? If a Rock has not hit its intermediate weekly milestones, it is off track and must be pushed to IDS.

Finally, examine team trust. Leaders often withhold messy issues because they dread long, circular debates, or they do not want to expose friction inside their departments. The facilitator must challenge the room directly. Point out the disconnect between company performance and the lack of issues. Ask pointed questions during the segue or before IDS: where is our sales process breaking down, what customer complaints surfaced this week, and what friction exists between operations and finance?

A 90-minute meeting is an investment. Do not accept a superficial forty-five minute check-in when real operational drag is holding back the business.
