We have a couple of legacy managers who do not sit on our leadership team on our Accountability Chart, but we still invite them to our Level 10 Meeting out of politeness. How do we transition them out of the meeting without causing cultural damage?

Having the wrong people in your leadership Level 10 Meeting™ is a major source of meeting waste and slows down decision-making. The rule of the Accountability Chart is absolute: only the leaders who own a seat on the leadership team should be in the leadership Level 10 Meeting. To transition legacy managers out, you must have an open and honest conversation rooted in your Charter. Explain that the leadership meeting is strictly for high-level accountability and solving issues related to the leadership seats. Let them know that their time is too valuable to spend in a meeting where they do not own a seat. Ensure they are plugged into their own departmental Level 10 Meetings where they can actively participate and bring value. This maintains their dignity, respects their time, and restores structural discipline to your leadership team. It is about placing the right people in the right seats and running the business with clarity.
