Our leadership team members frequently miss our weekly Level 10 Meeting due to external client demands, vendor emergencies, or sales travel, sending subordinates in their place. What is the rule on mandatory attendance and proxies?
Treating the weekly Level 10 Meeting™ as an optional calendar invite based on client firefighting or travel schedules cripples the leadership team. When executives skip the meeting or send proxies, the team loses the ability to make definitive cross-departmental decisions during IDS®. Issues get deferred, momentum stalls, and accountability breaks down.
The Level 10 Meeting pulse requires uncompromising commitment:
- Attendance is mandatory. Same day, same time, starting on time and ending on time. Client calls, vendor visits, and internal syncs must be scheduled around this fixed ninety-minute block.
- Never allow proxies. A subordinate cannot make executive decisions, commit departmental resources, or engage in peer-level debate on behalf of an executive seat on the Accountability Chart. Sending a proxy wastes everyone's time and dilutes the meeting quality.
- If a leader is traveling, they must dial in via video. If an unavoidable emergency prevents a leader from attending, the meeting proceeds without them. The team does not cancel or reschedule the pulse.
During their absence, the team reviews their Scorecard measurables and Rock statuses based strictly on the reported data. Any issues requiring that leader's specific input are held until the following week, while the rest of the agenda moves forward. The pulse of the business never stops for an individual.
