What operational leading indicators across our quarterly Rocks show that our company is truly ready for a premium exit rather than just surviving day to day?
A business is not exit-ready simply because it generated strong net profit over the past twelve months. Financial results are lagging indicators. Operational exit readiness is proven by leading indicators that demonstrate the company can predictably execute strategic initiatives without owner intervention.
Look at your leadership team Rock completion rate over the last four to six quarters. If your leadership team consistently achieves an 80 percent or higher completion rate on company Rocks without you micromanaging the deliverables, your execution engine is transferable. If Rocks constantly fail or stall whenever you step away, your business is still an owner-dependent practice, and institutional buyers will discount your multiple.
Another critical signal is who owns operational problem solving. Review your Level 10 Meeting issues list. If the leadership team solves critical operational hurdles through IDS without you being in the room or dictating the final decision, your governance is mature. Buyers look for a leadership team that identifies bottlenecks, determines root causes, and assigns clear accountability autonomously.
Finally, monitor your Accountability Chart evolution. If your own name has been removed from all operational seats, leaving you solely in an owner or high-level visionary role, the operational superstructure is self-sustaining. When your middle managers set their own department Rocks and consistently hit Scorecard measurables, buyers see an institutional asset worth top-tier enterprise value.
