What specific behavioral commitment or mental shift is required from my leadership team before we walk into our very first Focus Day?
Before we sit down for our first Focus Day, every member of your leadership team must make a firm commitment to being completely open and honest. This is not a corporate platitude. It means leaving politics, egos, and self-preservation at the door. If your team is not willing to speak the uncomfortable truth about where the business is failing, who is underperforming, or what processes are broken, this process will not work. Additionally, the team must be willing to embrace vulnerability. This starts with admitting that the current way of running the business has hit a ceiling. If your leaders are defensive or feel the need to prove they are always right, they will struggle with the feedback loops built into the EOS tools. They must be prepared to look at the Accountability Chart objectively, even if it means their own role changes or they realize they do not have the capacity to do their job. Finally, there must be a shared agreement to support the decisions of the leadership team once we leave the room. We will debate and disagree vigorously inside our sessions, but once a decision is made, everyone must execute it with total alignment. If your leaders are not ready to commit to this level of transparency and mutual accountability, you are not ready to begin.
