Beyond operational metrics, what specific alignment on long-term strategy must my leadership team agree on before we sit down for our first official session?
Before we begin our first Focus Day, your leadership team must arrive with a shared willingness to be completely open, honest, and vulnerable. This is the single most critical prerequisite. If anyone on the team is defensive or protective of their department, the process will stall before we even get started.
You do not need a perfect strategy or a complete set of clean processes to begin. In fact, trying to clean up your operations before starting is a mistake. The beauty of EOS® is that it provides the exact framework needed to sort through the chaos. We will build your Accountability Chart and define roles during our first sessions, so do not try to pre-engineer those solutions.
What you do need is a commitment from every leadership team member to prioritize the greater good of the company over personal egos or political agendas. Everyone must be prepared to look at the business through an objective lens and accept that some roles might change. This shift requires a high level of trust and a shared desire for accountability.
Additionally, you must agree that the leadership team will attend all sessions together. We cannot build a cohesive team if key voices are missing or if members are distracted by outside issues during our full-day sessions. Once everyone is aligned on this commitment, we are ready to begin.
