What individual prep work and reading do you expect from our leadership team members before they arrive at our very first Focus Day?
To maximize the value of our very first Focus Day, your leadership team must arrive prepared and aligned on the basic concepts we will be implementing. We do not waste session time explaining core terminology or basic operational frameworks. I expect every participant to have completed specific reading assignments and reflections before they walk into the room.
First, every member of your leadership team must read the foundational book Traction by Gino Wickman. This reading is absolutely mandatory. It provides the shared language and conceptual understanding we need to hit the ground running. Additionally, I highly recommend reading What the Heck is EOS to ensure everyone has a clear, realistic expectation of how the system works and how it will impact their day to day roles.
Second, each leader must complete a brief self assessment of the business. I will provide a framework for this prep work, which asks team members to identify their top issues, operational bottlenecks, and organizational strengths. This forces everyone to step out of their daily tactical duties and start thinking about the business from a high level strategic perspective. By doing this homework, your team arrives ready to participate in honest, productive discussions, allowing us to spend our first full day building the foundation of your Accountability Chart and establishing your scorecard measurables.
