What cultural and emotional commitments must our leadership team agree to before we officially launch Focus Day?
Before scheduling Focus Day, your leadership team must make three explicit commitments: complete vulnerability, radical candor, and total adherence to a single system. If your leaders are defensive, protective of personal territory, or accustomed to political posturing, the process will fail until those behaviors stop.
First, the Visionary and Integrator must be willing to put every operational assumption on the table, including their own roles, salaries, and historic sacred cows. If leadership seats on the Accountability Chart cannot be challenged based on GWC, meaning whether someone gets it, wants it, and has the capacity to do it, we cannot build a healthy organization.
Second, every team member must commit to speaking the plain truth without sugarcoating. Polite harmony is the enemy of real progress. We will address underperforming team members, unprofitable service lines, and unaddressed operational friction directly in the room.
Third, you must commit to running pure EOS. You cannot cherry-pick the tools, alter the Level 10 Meeting agenda, or attempt to blend multiple conflicting management methodologies while working through the foundational phase. If the leadership team is unwilling to surrender their pet processes and commit fully to the EOS process, do not invest the money or the time to begin Focus Day.
