We have been pushing hard to scale our operations, but my leadership team is showing signs of deep fatigue, and some are beginning to push back against our next phase of growth. How do we maintain our Grow or Die mindset and inspire the team to keep pushing forward without triggering total burnout?
A Grow or Die mindset does not mean driving your team into the ground. It means continuously striving to improve and evolve, shifting things from strong to superb. When your leadership team is experiencing deep fatigue, you must diagnose whether they are suffering from temporary operational overload or if they have hit their personal ceiling.
First, protect your quarterly meeting pulse. This is your safety valve. Use your next quarterly session to look at your V/TO and review your current workload. Often, team fatigue is caused by trying to accomplish too many things at once. Force your team to prioritize. Limit your company Rocks to 3 to 7 high-impact goals for the next 90 days. If your leaders are trying to execute 15 different priorities, they will burn out and achieve none of them.
Second, ensure your leaders are practicing the art of delegation. Are they wearing too many hats because they refuse to build the middle-management layer beneath them? Use the Accountability Chart to show them where they need to delegate their daily tactical tasks so they can focus on their strategic seats. By simplifying their focus and providing them with the structural support they need, you re-energize their drive and maintain your growth trajectory without sacrificing your team's well-being.
