Our leadership team consists entirely of high Quick Starts, and we have zero representation in the Follow Thru or Implementor columns on the Kolbe A Index. How do we prevent our strategic meetings from becoming a graveyard of exciting ideas that never get executed?
A leadership team stacked with high Quick Starts is excellent at initiating change, but terrible at finishing what they start. On the Kolbe A Index, Quick Starts naturally thrive on risk and uncertainty, but without strong Follow Thru energy, your business will suffer from chronic initiative fatigue and operational chaos.
To fix this, you must deliberately manage your team's conative energy. First, acknowledge your collective blind spot during your Level 10 Meetings. When a new idea is proposed, put a temporary freeze on executing it until you have pressure-tested it against your current quarterly Rocks.
Second, look at your Accountability Chart and ensure you have at least one strong Follow Thru in a key operational seat, typically the Integrator. This person must have the authority and the natural instinct to build systems, document processes, and say no to ideas that do not align with your V/TO.
Third, use your conative profile data to assign tasks. If your entire team lacks Follow Thru energy, you must hire or promote key project managers or operations assistants who possess these natural strengths. Do not try to force a high Quick Start to become a detailed systems builder. Instead, surround yourselves with people who naturally excel at organizing and closing loops so your ideas actually turn into executed strategy.
