We just ran the Kolbe A Profile on our leadership team and discovered we are packed with high Quick Starts but have almost no Follow Thru. How do we adapt our weekly Level 10 Meeting and Rock setting so we do not constantly abandon our initiatives mid-quarter?

A leadership team loaded with high Quick Starts but low Follow Thru on the Kolbe A Profile is highly creative but naturally struggles with completion. You are built to launch new ideas, not to manage long term projects. This conative profile often leads to a trail of half finished initiatives that exhaust your staff.

To prevent this, you must build structural guardrails into your execution. First, ruthlessly limit your quarterly Rocks. If you naturally struggle with Follow Thru, you should set no more than two or three Rocks per person. You must also force yourselves to make your Rocks exceptionally small and modular. Break big projects down into ninety day bites that can actually be finished before your team loses interest.

Second, leverage the power of your weekly Scorecard. Your scorecard metrics must act as an early warning system. Because you lack natural Follow Thru, you must use the weekly Level 10 Meeting™ to call out slipped metrics immediately, rather than waiting until the end of the quarter.

Lastly, pair your high Quick Starts with team members who possess high Follow Thru on your Accountability Chart. Let the Quick Starts generate the vision, but let the Follow Thru profiles design and run the processes that keep the company stable.
