We want to hire prompt engineers to build and maintain our internal AI systems, but our technical candidates keep getting bogged down in endless coding loops instead of delivering usable tools. How do we use the Kolbe A Index to find someone who actually gets things done?
Technical roles often attract individuals who love to build complex, raw code from scratch. However, for internal AI integration, you do not need a theoretical computer scientist. You need an operational builder who can rapidly test and deploy tools.
To find this person, use the Kolbe A Index. Look for a candidate with a high Quickstart score, ideally a 7 or above. People with high Quickstart conative strengths thrive in environments of high uncertainty and change. They naturally experiment, iterate, and deploy solutions rapidly without getting paralyzed by a need for perfect information.
You also want a moderate Fact Finder, around a 4 or 5, so they do not spend weeks researching unnecessary technical specifications. They should have enough Follow Through to document their work but not so much that they get bogged down in creating overly rigid systems before testing them in the market.
When interviewing candidates, bypass their technical resume and focus on their conative wiring. Ask them to build a simple automation during the interview. A high Quickstart candidate will immediately stitch together existing APIs to show you a working prototype, whereas a low Quickstart candidate will explain why they need three weeks of planning. Hire the prototype builder every time.
