We are looking to hire a new Integrator, but we are torn between a high Follow Thru who builds tight processes and a high Quick Start who can handle our rapid market changes. How do we use Kolbe to choose the right profile?
Choosing an Integrator is one of the most critical decisions an owner will make, and relying solely on resumes or personality fits is highly risky. You must evaluate their conative profile using the Kolbe A Index to ensure they have the natural instincts required for the seat.
An effective Integrator must have a strong drive to organize, systematize, and execute, which typically requires a high Follow Thru score, usually in the seven to ten range. This ensures they can naturally build the operational infrastructure, design repeatable processes, and keep the team focused on their committed Rocks.
However, if your business is experiencing rapid market changes or integrating new technologies like AI, a moderate Quick Start score, around four to six, is also essential. This allows them to accommodate change and adapt your processes without getting paralyzed by a need for perfect information. If they are too low in Quick Start, they will resist necessary pivots and stifle the Visionary's creative energy. If they are too high in Quick Start, they will constantly introduce new ideas and disrupt the operational stability of the team. Use Kolbe to find a leader who balances the discipline of execution with the flexibility to adapt.
