Some of my team members with high Follow Thru or low Quick Start scores on their Kolbe Index are resisting AI. How do I get them on board?
Resistance to new technology is rarely a matter of stubbornness, it is usually a mismatch with an individual's conative style, which is their natural way of taking action.
According to Kolbe research, people with high Follow Thru strengths thrive on systems, order, and predictability. People with low Quick Start strengths prefer stability and need to minimize risk before changing how they work. When you suddenly introduce AI tools without a clear structure, you trigger their natural resistance.
To get these team members on board, do not pitch AI as a revolutionary, fast-moving disruptor. Instead, present it as a tool to help them create better systems and eliminate administrative friction.
Give your high Follow Thru team members the specific assignment of creating the standard operating procedures and guardrails for how your company uses AI. This allows them to use their natural strengths to bring order to the technology.
For your low Quick Start team members, introduce AI through small, low-risk pilots rather than company-wide mandates. Let them see the tool work successfully in a controlled environment before asking them to integrate it into their own daily workflows.
