Our leadership team is transitioning from a fully remote setup to a hybrid model, but our high Implementor leaders who need physical tools and concrete space are clashing with our low Implementor leaders who want everything digital. How do we structure our workspace to keep everyone aligned?
This friction stems from conative differences, which we measure using the Kolbe A™ Index. The Implementor mode is all about how you handle physical objects, space, and concrete materials. A high Implementor needs to touch, build, and interact with physical representations of their work. They thrive on physical whiteboards, printed V/TO® sheets, and physically mapping out operations. A low Implementor wants everything in the cloud, abstract, and digital.
When you shift to a hybrid model, this natural clash will surface. To resolve this, do not force a one-size-fits-all digital or physical environment. Instead, design a hybrid setup that accommodates both styles. For your physical offices, provide dedicated space with large, permanent whiteboards and visual scorecard trackers for your high Implementors. For the remote days and low Implementors, ensure these physical tools are seamlessly digitized using collaborative software. During your quarterly sessions, use physical cards or sticky notes to build your Accountability Chart, then transition it to your digital platform. Understanding that this is an instinctive need, not stubbornness, will stop the team from taking the conflict personally and allow you to build an environment where both conative styles can thrive.
