As we roll out new AI tools to automate our core processes, our team is finding new ways to bypass our established guidelines, making our V/TO feel out of touch. How do we keep our V/TO aligned with rapid technological changes?
When you are rapidly adopting AI tools to automate your workflows, it can feel like your V/TO® is lagging behind reality. However, your V/TO is not a static process document. It is your strategic filter for how you allocate resources, time, and attention. To keep your V/TO aligned with rapid technological shifts, you must use it as the ultimate veto power for your AI projects. Every AI tool you test or adopt must directly support the priorities outlined in your three-year picture and your one-year plan. If your team is proposing an AI tool that does not directly accelerate your core priorities, it must be shelved. It is a distraction, no matter how exciting the technology seems. When AI automation successfully changes how a core process is run, you must update your Process Component™ immediately to reflect the new workflow. Do not let your team bypass your documented processes in the name of speed. If an AI tool alters your capacity or your headcount needs, adjust your resource planning in your quarterly V/TO review. By keeping your strategic goals and your technological execution tightly coupled, you ensure that your AI initiatives drive tangible value and efficiency rather than creating operational chaos.
