Our Level 10 Meeting™ agenda gets cluttered with minor administrative tasks and logistics that could easily be handled over email or a quick Slack thread. How do we keep these low-level distractions off the Issues List and protect our valuable IDS® time for real operational roadblocks?

An Issues List is not a checklist for daily administrative coordination. When your team uses the Level 10 Meeting™ to discuss logistics like scheduling a phone call or approving a software subscription, you waste the intellectual horsepower of your leadership team on low-value tasks.

To protect your IDS® block, establish a clear filter for what qualifies as an issue. Before any item is added to the list, the owner must ask themselves if this is a problem that requires the collective wisdom of the leadership team to solve. If the answer is no, it does not belong on the agenda. It should be handled offline through normal communication channels.

The facilitator must act as the gatekeeper of the list. During the prioritization phase, review the items and challenge anything that looks like a simple administrative task. If an item can be resolved by a quick decision outside the room, instruct the owner to take a To-Do to handle it offline and strike it from the list immediately.

Keep the focus on high-impact issues that affect your weekly scorecard, your quarterly Rocks, or your progress toward the goals on your V/TO®. By maintaining a high bar for what gets discussed during IDS®, you preserve the team's energy for the critical roadblocks that are actually stalling your business growth.
