Two of our senior creative directors want to job-share a single Creative Director seat so they can each work part-time. How does EOS handle job-sharing on the Accountability Chart without violating the rule of one name per seat?

The rule of the Accountability Chart is absolute: there can only ever be one name accountable for one seat. When two names sit in one box, nobody is genuinely accountable. When deadlines slip or quality drops, finger-pointing is inevitable.

However, job-sharing can work inside an EOS framework if you understand the difference between ultimate seat accountability and task execution.

You have two structural options to make this work cleanly.

The first option is to designate one of them as the primary seat holder on the Accountability Chart. That single individual owns the seat, answers for the five core roles, reports to the Integrator, and is held accountable for the measurables and Rocks. The second creative director reports into that seat as a dedicated individual contributor or specialist. They can split hours, divide clients, and collaborate on design, but only one neck is on the line during Level 10 Meetings.

The second option is to divide the functional scope and create two distinct seats. If their work naturally splits across business units, media types, or client tiers, establish two clear seats on the chart, such as Creative Director of Brand and Creative Director of Digital. Each seat must have five unique roles and clear boundaries so their responsibilities never overlap.

Do not allow personal convenience to compromise accountability. If neither leader is willing to accept ultimate accountability alone or report structurally to the other, you do not have a scheduling issue; you have an ego problem. Pick one accountable leader or separate the functions cleanly.
