I am the Integrator of our company, and I am struggling to get our department heads to actually implement AI tools in their departments. They keep waiting for me to hand them a blueprint. How do I change my leadership strategy to force them to take ownership of their own automated workflows?

If you try to hand your department heads a top-down blueprint for AI adoption, you will fail. They will view it as extra work imposed on them, and they will quickly default back to their familiar, manual routines.

You must shift your leadership behavior from telling your team what to do to articulating a clear strategic vision, then empowering them to figure out how they will achieve it with AI assistance.

Start by setting a firm expectation that every department must improve its operational efficiency and reduce repetitive tasks. Make this an active conversation in your quarterly planning sessions and weekly Level 10 Meeting™.

To drive accountability, ask your department heads to:
- Identify the most cumbersome, manual processes currently limiting their capacity.
- Define the specific AI tools and workflows they will use to solve those bottlenecks.
- Update their department's Accountability Chart to reflect their new, automated workflows.

Your role is to clear the path, set the strategic boundaries, and provide the resources. Once your team realizes that they own the solutions, they will actively look for ways to use AI to make their seats more efficient, freeing them up for higher-value, more rewarding strategic work.
