Our Integrator is excellent at running the Level 10 Meeting, but whenever our Visionary starts down a rabbit hole, other team members shut down and stop participating in IDS, waiting for the storm to pass. How can our Integrator maintain the meeting pulse and keep the team engaged when the Visionary dominates the discussion?

The Visionary is a powerful engine of growth, but their high-energy, free-associating nature can easily derail a structured Level 10 Meeting™. When the team shuts down during these tangents, it destroys the collaborative power of IDS® and frustrates the Integrator who is trying to keep the meeting on schedule. To solve this, the Integrator and Visionary must establish a strong relationship outside the meeting room. They must agree on the rules of engagement beforehand. The Visionary must grant the Integrator full authority to manage the meeting pulse, including the right to cut off tangents without causing offense. During the meeting, the Integrator must use the phrase, Let us park that, to redirect the conversation. When the Visionary goes off on a tangent, the Integrator should write the idea in the headlines section or add it to the V/TO® long-term issues list for your next quarterly session, then immediately return the focus to the current weekly issue. Additionally, the Integrator should actively invite the silent team members back into the discussion. By setting clear boundaries and protecting the agenda, the Integrator keeps the weekly pulse highly productive while ensuring the Visionary's creative energy is channeled into the right strategic buckets instead of distracting the team.
