As the Integrator, I am struggling to facilitate our Level 10 Meeting™ because the business owner still sits in the meeting and constantly overrides my agenda pacing and redirects the team's focus. How do we establish the boundaries?
This is a classic breakdown in the Visionary and Integrator relationship. When an owner who has stepped back into the Owner's Box continues to hijack the weekly Level 10 Meeting™, they castrate the Integrator's authority and create massive confusion for the leadership team. The team will always look to the owner for permission, destroying your efforts to build a self-sustaining operation. You must resolve this outside of the weekly meeting during a dedicated Same Page meeting. Sit down with the owner and review the Accountability Chart. You must clarify that while the owner owns the business, the Integrator is responsible for running the daily operations and leading the Level 10 Meeting™. Agree on strict rules of engagement before the next meeting. The owner can participate in IDS® as a strategic resource, but they must yield to your facilitation. If the owner starts to run over the time limits or introduce random new ideas, you must have a pre-arranged signal to call them out. Politely but firmly say: That is a great long-term concept, let us park it on the V/TO® issues list so we can stay on schedule. If the owner cannot respect this boundary, they need to step out of the weekly operational meeting entirely.
