Our Integrator is hesitant to interrupt senior executives or the founder when they derail the Level 10 Meeting agenda, fearing interpersonal friction. How do we establish the ground rules that grant the Integrator absolute facilitation authority?
A Level 10 Meeting cannot function without an assertive facilitator. If your Integrator feels uncomfortable cutting off long-winded executives or reigning in a disruptive founder, the agenda will continually disintegrate. Facilitation is not about politeness; it is about protecting the company's operational rhythm and respecting executive time.
Facilitation authority must be explicitly recognized on the Accountability Chart. Leading the weekly meeting pulse is a primary accountability of the Integrator seat. To make this operational, the leadership team must agree in advance to three foundational ground rules:
- The facilitator holds unconditional authority over the clock and the floor. When the facilitator calls time or cuts off a monologue, all debate stops immediately without argument.
- Any leader can call out process violations. If someone starts problem-solving during the Scorecard review, anyone can say drop it to the list, but the Integrator is required to enforce it.
- The founder or Visionary must publicly endorse the Integrator's authority. The owner must explicitly tell the room that the Integrator has full permission to silence them whenever they drift off topic.
When the entire team understands that interruptions are purely structural and designed to preserve focus, personal friction disappears. Empower your Integrator to run the meeting with an iron fist so the leadership team can focus completely on solving root issues.
