Our Integrator is supposed to facilitate our weekly Level 10 Meeting, but they end up dominating the IDS portion by proposing all the solutions themselves instead of letting the leadership team solve the problems. How do we restore healthy facilitation?

The role of the facilitator in a Level 10 Meeting™ is to guide the team through the agenda, manage the clock, and draw out the collective wisdom of the room. When an Integrator stops facilitating and begins dominating IDS® by dictating every solve, they shut down the rest of the leadership team. This kills collaboration, creates owner-dependency, and prevents your team from developing their own problem-solving capabilities.

To correct this, the Integrator must consciously separate their role as the facilitator from their role as a team member during IDS®. Facilitation is about process, not content. The facilitator's job is to ensure the issue is clearly identified, that everyone has a chance to share their perspective once, and that the team pushes toward a concrete solve.

If the Integrator has a strong opinion on a specific issue, they should state it clearly but only after others have spoken. A great technique is for the Integrator to ask open-ended questions first, such as, What does the team think the root cause is? or How do you recommend we solve this?

If the Integrator continues to struggle with dominating the room, consider rotating the facilitation role to another member of the leadership team for a few quarters. This frees up the Integrator to participate fully as a peer in the discussions while allowing another leader to develop their facilitation skills. This shift protects the integrity of your weekly pulse and ensures that your solves are built on team alignment rather than executive decree.
