We want to make sure our weekly Level 10 Meeting™ is actively preparing us for a clean exit, but we do not want to create a separate exit meeting that adds to our meeting fatigue. How do we naturally inject exit readiness into our weekly IDS® process?

You do not need a separate meeting to prepare for an exit. In fact, adding more meetings is the exact opposite of building a streamlined, transferable business. The most effective way to prepare for a clean exit is to integrate your preparation into your existing Level 10 Meeting pulse.

To do this, use the Step by Step Exit model as a lens for your weekly issues. When you are looking at your weekly Issues List, start labeling issues that directly impact your company valuation, documentation of tribal knowledge, or deal readiness.

When these exit-related issues come up in IDS, do not treat them as side projects. Solve them with the same operational rigor you apply to customer issues. For example, if a key operational process is only in the founder's head, that is a critical issue that must be solved by assigning a weekly to-do to document it.

Additionally, ensure your weekly scorecard contains at least one or two leading indicators of value, such as recurring revenue percentages or contract renewal rates. By keeping these exit-focused metrics visible, your team stays aligned with the long-term goal.

Integrating these topics into your weekly pulse ensures that exit preparation becomes part of your daily operations. This keeps your business constantly ready for a transaction while maintaining the momentum of your core operations.
