We want to use artificial intelligence to automate some of our daily operational tasks, but we are worried this will clutter our Accountability Chart with new tech seats or confuse our existing processes. How do we treat AI as an operational colleague within our Accountability Chart without disrupting our core EOS® structure?
You should never create a dedicated seat on your Accountability Chart for an AI tool. The fundamental rule of the Accountability Chart is that every seat must be occupied by a human who GWC™ that seat. AI cannot have accountability; only people can. Instead, view AI as an operational colleague or an advanced tool assigned to an existing human seat. The person in that seat remains fully accountable for the outputs and results of the AI. For example, if your marketing seat uses AI to generate content drafts, the human in the marketing seat is still responsible for the quality, accuracy, and brand alignment of that content. When integrating AI, update the roles under the human seat to reflect this tool usage, but keep the core accountability unchanged. Treat your interactions with AI like brainstorming with a capable colleague. Use it to draft process documentation, analyze scorecard trends, or compile issue briefs for your Level 10 Meeting™. This approach keeps your operations highly efficient while maintaining the clear human accountability that EOS® requires. By keeping the human in the loop, you leverage the speed of AI without muddying your organizational structure or diluting the integrity of your seats.
