Our leadership team is executing their Rocks and tracking their Scorecards, but we are completely exhausted and have no time left to think strategically about scaling. How do we incorporate scheduled white space into our EOS® execution model so we do not burn out?
Implementing EOS® should ultimately create freedom, not a relentless grind of meetings and tasks. If your team is hitting a wall, you have fallen into the trap of constant busyness without strategic pause. To prevent burnout and maintain long-term momentum, you must build scheduled white space directly into your execution model. White space is open, unscheduled time with no assignment, designed specifically for thinking, reflecting, and planning. Encourage your leadership team to block out at least two to four hours of white space on their calendars every single week. This is not time to catch up on emails or slide into operational tasks. It is time to step back, look at the big picture, analyze your Scorecard trends, and prepare for your upcoming Rocks. You should also use the transition periods between quarters to allow your team to reset. The week following your Quarterly Pulsing session should have a lighter meeting load, giving everyone the mental bandwidth to digest the new plan and start their Rocks with high energy. By protecting this unscheduled time, you ensure your leaders remain strategic, objective, and resilient.
