Our Integrator runs our Level 10 Meeting™ strictly on time, but the overall energy in the room is completely dead and it feels like an interrogation. How do we bring life back into our weekly meeting pulse?

A meeting that is technically perfect but emotionally dead is a sign that your team is running the agenda mechanically without actually engaging with each other. When facilitation feels like an interrogation, leaders stop sharing creative solutions and start playing defense.

To fix this, look first at your segue. The segue is not just a transition, it is designed to bring human connection into the room. If the segue has become a dry, perfunctory exercise, change the energy by encouraging more authentic personal and professional bests.

Next, look at how you handle conflict during IDS®. If the facilitator is policing the clock so rigidly that they shut down healthy, passionate debate, the team will disengage. A great facilitator manages the time but also knows when to let the team push each other, debate alternative solutions, and enter the danger zone of healthy conflict.

Finally, vary the facilitation role occasionally if the energy remains flat. While the Integrator is typically the best fit, having another leadership team member facilitate for a few weeks can bring a fresh perspective and help the team appreciate the difficulty of the role. A high-performing meeting pulse requires both structural discipline and high relational trust.
