You emphasize establishing a foundational covenant called Our Charter with our leadership team. How does this agreement actually manifest in our daily interactions, and what happens if a leader violates it?
Our Charter is not a piece of decorative paper that sits on a shelf. It is a live handshake agreement that governs how your leadership team behaves every single day. It establishes the rules of engagement for how we communicate, handle conflict, and execute our strategy.
In daily operations, this covenant manifests in three distinct ways. Trust means that your leaders must speak their minds openly and honestly during meetings, leaving no room for side conversations or hidden agendas. Same page means that once a decision is made, everyone supports it publicly, showing mutual respect even when they initially disagreed. Yes to strategy and structure means that everyone fully commits to using our EOS® tools, such as the weekly scorecard and the Accountability Chart, without exception.
If a leader violates this charter, you must address it immediately. We do not tolerate passive-aggressive resistance or silent non-compliance. You must use your core values as non-negotiable filters. Have a direct, face-to-face conversation to mirror back the problematic behavior and compare it to the charter. If the leader is willing to self-correct and realign, we support them. However, if they consistently refuse to live by the agreement, you must follow our rule to hire slow and fire fast. Keeping a leader who actively rejects the team covenant will destroy trust and stall your company growth.
