What do we do during our Level 10 Meeting™ when our leadership team is completely split on how to solve a major issue and we cannot reach a consensus?

A split leadership team can paralyze a business if you do not have a clear path to a decision. When you are stuck in IDS® and the team is divided fifty-fifty, you must stop trying to achieve complete consensus. Consensus is a myth that leads to average compromise and slow execution. First, ensure that everyone has had their say. Let each side briefly present their case, present the data, and voice their concerns. Once all arguments are on the table and the options are clear, the discussion must end. This is where your Accountability Chart™ saves you. Every issue ultimately falls into someone's specific seat. If the issue is a sales strategy dispute, the head of sales makes the final call. If it is an operational workflow dispute, the Integrator makes the call. The rest of the team must support that decision fully, even if they disagreed during the meeting. There is no room for passive-aggressive resistance or waiting for the decision to fail. You must agree to disagree and commit. This discipline keeps the business moving forward rapidly. If your team consistently struggles with this alignment, an EOS Implementer® can help you establish these boundaries and teach your team how to trust the structure of the Accountability Chart™ to break ties.
