When vague, high-level anxieties about AI start creeping into our weekly Level 10 Meeting, it can stall our leadership team and destroy our meeting pulse. How do we use the IDS process in our Level 10 Meeting to address these fears productively without letting them turn into weekly therapy sessions?
When vague, high-level anxieties about AI start creeping into your weekly Level 10 Meeting™, it can stall your leadership team and destroy your meeting pulse. You cannot let these sessions devolve into speculative conversations about the future of technology. You must bring discipline to the discussion.
Use the IDS® process to run these issues to ground. When someone brings up an AI-related fear, immediately identify the root issue. Ask them: What specific operational problem or seat on our Accountability Chart is this affecting right now?
If the issue is that employees are worried about job security because of automation, do not debate the ethics of technology. Focus on the GWC™ of the team. Discuss whether the current team members have the capacity to adapt to their updated roles.
If the issue is simply fear of the unknown, assign a short-term To-Do for a leader to research the tool or hold a quick training session. Solve the real problem, which is usually a lack of clear communication from leadership about how technology will be used. Keep your team focused on the immediate operational realities of your business rather than distant, hypothetical scenarios.
