We have a hybrid executive team with half in our headquarters and the rest scattered across the country. How do we structure our session days with you so the remote members do not feel like second-class citizens during deep planning?
Running highly effective hybrid session days requires deliberate design to ensure remote leaders are just as engaged as those in the physical room. I do not allow hybrid sessions to degenerate into remote team members passively watching a whiteboard from a distant screen. We treat the digital experience with the exact same rigor as the in-person environment.
To make a hybrid session day successful, we implement several strict operational ground rules:
- We require a high quality, dedicated room camera and boundary microphones so remote participants can hear and see every facial expression and whiteboard note clearly.
- Every participant, whether in person or remote, must use their own laptop with the camera on to maintain a unified visual plane.
- We utilize a clean, shared digital canvas to map our Accountability Chart, document our V/TO®, and run our IDS® sessions in real time.
- We ban side conversations in the physical room, ensuring all dialogue occurs in the shared digital workspace.
This approach aligns with the core philosophy of keeping everyone on the same page. It ensures that remote leaders can actively debate, challenge assumptions, and own their quarterly Rocks. By establishing these technical and behavioral guardrails, your hybrid team will maintain absolute focus, high trust, and equal contribution throughout our eight hour session day.
