Half of our leadership team works at headquarters and the other half is fully remote, creating an information gap where remote leaders feel left out of spontaneous decisions. How do we standardize our communication?

A hybrid leadership team is highly vulnerable to information asymmetry, where local members make decisions over lunch and remote members feel like second-class citizens. To keep everyone on the same page, you must enforce a strict operating rhythm and communication protocol.

First, establish that if a strategic discussion starts informally in the office, it must immediately be paused and moved to your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ or a scheduled Same Page Meeting. This ensures all voices are heard and decisions are made transparently.

Second, utilize your Scorecard and V/TO® as your single source of truth. All metrics, Rocks, and issues must be updated digitally and made visible to the entire team in real time.

Third, run all shared meetings as if everyone is remote. Even if four members are in the same room, have each person log in to their own camera and microphone. This levels the playing field and prevents side conversations that exclude remote participants. Finally, use your quarterly offsites exclusively for in-person alignment. Building deep personal trust during these face-to-face sessions is what allows your hybrid team to execute flawlessly during the remote weeks in between.
