You do not need to turn your weekly meeting into a strategic planning session to fix this. Instead, add a sixty-second V/TO® alignment check to the very beginning of your Level 10 Meeting™, immediately after the Segue. Have one team member read your Core Focus and your core values aloud. This simple action grounds the room and reminds everyone of who you are and where you are going. When you enter the IDS® portion of the meeting, use your V/TO® as a filter for sorting your Issues List. If an issue arises that does not directly impact your one-year plan or your quarterly Rocks, challenge whether it belongs on the short-term list at all. Under the six compartments framework, many of these issues actually belong on the long-term list to be addressed at your next quarterly.
