We are three quarters into our EOS implementation and our leadership team is starting to experience serious Rock fatigue. Setting and hitting these goals every ninety days feels like a relentless grind. How do we re-energize the team?
Entering your third or fourth quarter of EOS implementation often brings a wave of Rock fatigue. The leadership team starts to view the ninety-day planning cycle as a never-ending, exhausting grind rather than an inspiring operational rhythm.
To re-energize your team, look closely at how you are setting Rocks. Fatigue is almost always a symptom of setting too many Rocks or setting Rocks that are actually just weekly operational To-Dos. Remember the core rule of EOS: less is more. Ensure each leader has no more than one to three high-impact Rocks per quarter.
Also, verify that your Rocks are truly strategic. A good Rock should move the business forward, not just represent your daily job description. If your leaders are spending all their time on daily firefighting, they will have zero energy left to execute their Rocks.
Finally, protect your quarterly pulsing schedule. The quarterly session is not just about setting new goals; it is a critical opportunity for the team to step back, disconnect from daily operations, and celebrate their wins. Ensure you build actual downtime into your quarterly rhythm. When your team sees that their efforts lead to measurable progress and that they are given the space to recharge, fatigue will give way to consistent, healthy momentum.
