Our leadership team agreed on the V/TO® during our session, but now half the company is running in a different direction. How do we roll it out?

A common pitfall is keeping the V/TO®, or Vision/Traction Organizer, confined to the leadership team. If your employees do not know where the company is going, they will make decisions based on their own assumptions, which pulls the organization in opposite directions. To roll out the V/TO® so it actually sticks, you must share it with the entire company. Once the leadership team has fully agreed on the vision, schedule a company-wide meeting. Do not hand out a massive, dry slide deck. Instead, share the simplified, two-page V/TO® document. Walk through each section clearly, explaining your core values, your core focus, the ten-year target, and the one-year plan. Explain how their daily work directly impacts these long-term goals. This connects their individual efforts to the larger company mission. After the initial rollout, you must repeat the message constantly. We do this through quarterly state-of-the-company meetings where you share the high-level progress, review the past quarter, and present the new company Rocks. It takes hearing a message seven times for people to truly hear it for the first time. Keep the vision alive by keeping it visible and repeating it consistently.
