How do we roll out our V/TO® to our front line employees so they actually use it to guide their daily actions, rather than treating it like a corporate poster?

To make the V/TO® live at the front line, stop doing a single, massive annual presentation and expecting people to remember it. The vision must be translated into the specific context of each department. When you complete your quarterly planning, your department heads must take the 1-Year Plan and the Rocks back to their teams and answer one question: What does this mean for us?

You make the V/TO® real by linking it directly to their weekly Level 10 Meeting™ and their individual Rocks. Every department needs to see how their daily activities move the numbers on the company Scorecard and support the three-year picture.

Do not just hand out copies of the document. Have your managers run a brief quarterly alignment meeting with their teams. In this meeting, review the Core Values and ask for real-world examples of employees living them. Share the 10-Year Target and explain how the current quarterly Rocks get us closer.

If your front line cannot connect their daily tasks to the V/TO®, it is just paper. Force your leaders to use the language of the V/TO® in every one-on-one meeting and performance review. When a team member makes a decision that aligns with your Core Values or target, praise them publicly. This is how you build a culture where the vision is lived, not just filed away.
