Our executive team is incredibly busy running day-to-day operations. What are your specific expectations for how we must prepare individually in the two weeks leading up to each quarterly session day?
To get the highest return on your investment of time and money, preparation is essential. However, I do not expect your team to spend hours writing long-winded reports. The preparation I require is highly structured and designed to fit into your busy schedule.
First, you must complete your Rock reviews. You need to know exactly which of your quarterly goals are done and which are missed. There is no room for half-measures or stories. It is either a yes or a no.
Second, you must review your individual Kolbe A Index results if we have new members joining the leadership team. Keeping your conative strengths top of mind helps us navigate communication differences during our discussions.
Third, you must identify your top issues. You need to come to the session with a clear list of the operational bottlenecks, people problems, and strategic questions that are holding your department back.
Most importantly, you must prepare mentally by taking a Strategic Pause the day before. Clear your calendar of any lingering crises so that when you walk into the session room, your mind is fully present. We need you focused on the future of the company, not on a client email that needs a quick reply.
