We have completed our V/TO but it sits in a digital file cabinet and the team only references it when we are forced to during quarterly sessions. How do we operationalize our core values and long-term vision so they dictate daily actions on the ground?

A V/TO that lives in a digital folder is a waste of time. To turn your Vision and Traction Organizer into an active daily filter, you must build it directly into your decision-making processes.

Start by using your Core Focus and Target Market as the ultimate gatekeepers for new opportunities. When your Visionary returns from a conference with a hot new idea, or when sales wants to chase a non-ideal client, your Integrator must pull out the V/TO and ask if it fits. If it does not, the conversation is over.

Next, use your Core Values to actively hire, fire, reward, and recognize your people. This means integrating your Core Values into quarterly reviews and performance evaluations. Do not just talk about them. Terminate a high-performing employee who violates a core value to show the team that the V/TO has teeth.

Additionally, bring your Three-Year Picture and One-Year Plan into every quarterly planning session to map out your upcoming Rocks. If a proposed Rock does not directly move the needle toward your One-Year Plan, it gets cut.

Finally, share your V/TO with your entire company every ninety days. When your employees hear the vision repeatedly and see that every strategic priority aligns with the written document, they will begin using it as their own daily filter, keeping the entire organization moving in a single direction.
