Our company is going through a tough quarter, and more than half of our weekly scorecard metrics are consistently red. How do we handle a sea of red numbers in our Level 10 Meeting without overwhelming our Issues List and losing focus?
When your scorecard is dominated by red numbers, it is easy for your leadership team to experience panic and operational paralysis. If you drop fifteen red numbers to your Issues List, you will not have enough time to IDS any of them effectively. To regain control, you must prioritize and look for the root cause. Many red numbers are symptoms of a single, larger problem. During your scorecard review, drop the red numbers to the Issues List as usual, but when you transition to the IDS portion of the meeting, the leadership team must vote on the top three issues that are causing the most significant operational drag. Often, solving one critical bottleneck will automatically turn several other red metrics back to green. For example, if your sales conversion rate, client onboarding speed, and gross margin are all red, the root cause might be a flawed pricing model or poor lead qualification. By focusing your IDS energy on solving that single root issue, you address the source of the systemic failure. Keep the discipline of tracking every red number, but remain ruthless about prioritizing only the vital few issues that will move the needle for your business health.
