We filled out our V/TO® during our annual planning session, but now it just sits in a shared drive and nobody looks at it. How do we make the V/TO® an active, living tool that actually drives our weekly decisions?

A V/TO® that lives in a digital folder is just a strategic wish list, not an operational tool. To make your Vision/Business Organization document an active part of your culture, you must integrate it directly into your weekly and quarterly cadences. It should serve as the ultimate filter for every decision, opportunity, and potential distraction your business encounters.

First, bring the V/TO® into your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ environment. When your team brings up new ideas or sudden pivots during the IDS® portion of the meeting, use your core values, core focus, and ten year target as the immediate litmus test. If the new idea does not align with your stated focus, it is killed or shelved immediately. This prevents shiny object syndrome from draining your resources.

Second, review the V/TO® at the start of every single quarterly pulsing session. This keeps the long term targets fresh and ensures your quarterly Rocks are directly building toward your three year picture.

Finally, cascade the V/TO® down to the entire company. Your middle managers and frontline employees need to see it regularly. Share the simplified version during quarterly state of the company meetings so everyone understands where the business is heading and how their individual daily tasks contribute to the bigger picture. When your team sees you using the V/TO® to say no to distracting projects, they will start using it to align their own work.
