Our weekly To-Do list completion rate has hovered around seventy percent for two months, and our leaders always have plausible operational excuses for why their tasks are not done. How do we drive accountability and push our weekly completion rate back above the ninety percent EOS® standard?

A consistent seventy percent To-Do completion rate means your leadership team is tolerating mediocrity. In the EOS® framework, the standard is ninety percent or better. When you accept excuses, you train your team that commitments are optional, which is deadly when preparing for a clean exit.

To fix this, you must change how you review To-Dos. When a leader says a task is not done, do not let them tell a long story about why. The review is a binary check of done or not done. If it is not done, do not accept a new deadline on the spot. Drop the incomplete task to the Issues List immediately.

During IDS®, solve the real issue. Is the leader overloaded? Is the task too big for a seven-day commitment? Do they lack the GWC™ to get it done? By forcing them to IDS® their incomplete tasks, you turn an uncomfortable excuse into a problem-solving session.

Ensure every To-Do is written as a clear, bite-sized, actionable item that can realistically be finished in seven days. If a task is too large, break it down. By strictly enforcing the ninety percent standard and treating incomplete tasks as operational issues, you build a culture of execution that buyers will pay a premium for.
