We have been running EOS® for a year and are starting to experience tool fatigue, with team members neglecting their To-Dos and treating the Level 10 Meeting™ like a chore. How do we re-energize a stagnant implementation before the framework completely unravels?
Tool fatigue is a natural phase that many companies experience after running EOS® for a year or two. The initial excitement has worn off, and the tools can start to feel like routine paperwork. When team members neglect their To-Dos and drift through meetings, you must take active steps to inject energy back into the system.
Start by going back to basics. Review your Level 10 Meeting™ scores. If your team is rating your weekly meetings a seven or lower, it means you are not solving real issues. You are likely spending too much time reporting and not enough time in deep, meaningful IDS®. Push your team to bring tougher, more uncomfortable issues to the table to make the meetings high-value again.
Next, evaluate your Accountability Chart™. As your business grows, seats must evolve. If team members are falling behind on their Rocks or To-Dos, their current capacity may have changed, or they may no longer GWC™ their seat. Have an honest conversation about seat alignment.
Finally, re-engage with your V/TO®. Remind the team why you are doing this work by connecting their weekly actions to the 3-Year Picture and 10-Year Target. When people see that their daily discipline is directly driving the long-term vision of the company, the tools stop feeling like a chore and become the engine of progress once again.
