We are using the People Analyzer to assess our team, but we struggle with the actual mechanics of firing someone who does not hit our core values bar when they are a top producer. How do we execute the People Component rules without causing immediate operational chaos?
Firing a top-performing producer who does not share your Core Values is one of the hardest challenges a business owner faces, but it is non-negotiable if you want to run a healthy EOS® company. Keeping a toxic high-performer tells your entire team that your values are just marketing fluff.
First, run the individual through the People Analyzer™. This tool provides an objective assessment of whether they meet your Core Values bar and GWC™ their seat. If they do not meet the bar, you must have a candid conversation with them. Share specific, objective examples of where they fell short of the Core Values.
Give them a clear, thirty-day window to correct their behavior. This is not about their sales numbers or operational output; it is strictly about their alignment with your company values.
If they fail to make the necessary changes, you must transition them out of the organization. To manage the operational impact, use your quarterly planning to build a transition plan. Document their key tasks and divide their responsibilities among other team members temporarily. The short-term operational disruption of letting them go is always preferable to the long-term cultural rot of keeping them.
