We have a top sales producer who brings in a third of our revenue but consistently violates our Core Values. How does an EOS® company handle a high-performing cultural misfit without risking the business?

Tolerating a high-performing cultural misfit is a fast track to destroying your company culture. When you let a top producer violate your Core Values because they bring in revenue, you send a clear message to the rest of your team that your values are just empty marketing slogans.

In the EOS® framework, we use the People Analyzer™ to assess alignment. This tool evaluates whether team members exhibit your Core Values consistently. If a leader or employee falls below your established bar, they are a wrong person, even if they are in the right seat.

You must handle this immediately. Sit down with the individual and share specific examples of where they fell short of your Core Values. Give them thirty days to correct the behavior, and make it clear that their performance metrics will not save them if their behavior does not change.

If they fail to align, you must let them go. While it may cause a temporary dip in revenue, the long-term benefits to your team health, retention, and overall productivity will far outweigh the short-term loss. A healthy, aligned culture is far more scalable and valuable than any single high performer.
