We consistently enter our quarterly pulsing sessions with high hopes, but by week twelve we are scrambling and half of our Rocks are incomplete. How do we build a culture where quarterly Rocks actually cross the finish line every single time?
If your team is consistently failing to complete their quarterly Rocks, you likely have a scoping or tracking problem. When Rocks do not cross the finish line, it stalls your strategic momentum and compromises your business growth. To solve this, first ensure you are not setting too many Rocks. A healthy leadership team should have no more than three to five company Rocks per quarter. Each Rock must be clearly scoped, measurable, and owned by a single individual on the Accountability Chart. Second, use your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ to keep Rocks on track. The Rock review portion of the agenda is not for discussion; it is a quick check to see if each Rock is on track or off track. If a Rock is off track for two weeks in a row, immediately drop it to the issues list. Use the IDS® process to identify the roadblock and create a plan to get it back on schedule. By addressing roadblocks early, you ensure your team builds the execution muscle needed to scale and maximize value.
