I am the Visionary and owner, and although my Integrator is supposed to run our weekly Level 10 Meeting, I find myself constantly interrupting, re-prioritizing the Issues List, and hijacking the meeting flow. How do I physically discipline myself to let the Integrator lead?

As an owner preparing to step into the Owner's Box, your biggest obstacle is often your own habit of stepping on your Integrator's toes. When you hijack the Level 10 Meeting™, you undermine your Integrator's authority and teach the leadership team to ignore them. To break this habit, you must respect the structure of the Accountability Chart. The Integrator seat is accountable for running the business day-to-day, which includes leading the weekly pulse. You must physically and mentally yield the floor. Start by changing your seating position. If you sit at the head of the table, move to the side. During the meeting, practice active silence. Take notes on a notepad of what you want to say, and wait until the IDS® portion to voice your thoughts. During IDS®, you are one of equal voices at the table, not the ultimate dictator. Let the Integrator facilitate the debate and call on you. If you feel the urge to interrupt, remember that your job is to build a self-sustaining business that runs without you. Every time you let your Integrator lead and solve issues without your intervention, you increase the equity value of your company and bring yourself closer to a clean exit.
