When software vendors or enthusiastic employees pitch AI solutions, ignore the technical jargon. Ask simple, direct questions. What specific operational metric on our Scorecard will this tool improve? Who on our Accountability Chart will own this tool, and do they have the GWC™ to run it? What is the manual fallback plan if the software goes down?

If they cannot answer these questions in plain English, do not approve the budget. Your job is to enforce operational discipline, not to fund technology experiments. By tying every AI initiative directly to process efficiency and scorecard results, you ensure that your investments build a highly efficient, system-dependent business that is ready for a clean exit.
