I know we have to spend full days in a room with you, but I need to understand the rhythm of a session day. How do you keep us from getting bogged down in departmental status updates so we actually spend the day working on the business?
A typical session day with me is not a series of status updates, lectures, or presentation slides. The biggest mistake leadership teams make in strategic meetings is talking about operational issues without actually solving them. We design the session day to completely eliminate unproductive updates and focus entirely on making critical decisions.
We begin the morning by establishing our baseline. We review your progress from the last quarter, look at your numbers, and evaluate your execution of past quarterly Rocks. This takes less than an hour because we do not allow storytelling. You either completed the Rock or you did not.
Once the administrative review is complete, we transition to the real work of the day. The core of our session is spent on the Issues Solving Track™, which uses the IDS® method: Identify, Discuss, and Solve. We build an issues list of the biggest structural and strategic hurdles facing your business.
My role as your facilitator is to keep you out of the weeds. When your team starts telling long stories or debating minor details, I will step in to redirect you back to the root cause. We do not leave the room with a long list of things to study or discuss later. We leave with a clear set of resolved issues, concrete action items, and aligned quarterly priorities that will drive your business forward over the next ninety days.
